Empower offers professional development opportunities

31.08.2018

I started working as a trainee at Empower in January 2016. I'm a third-year student at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, and I will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in business administration at the end of 2016.

As a field, HR enables me to combine process development with working with people.

I applied for a trainee position with Empower because I wanted to learn what HR functions entail within a large group of companies. I was also interested in international operations, and I have had the opportunity to work with employees in the Baltic and Nordic countries.

Interesting and international job

My range of duties became significantly broader during the spring. Initially, I worked as an assistant, but I have since been trusted with more extensive duties and system development projects. At the moment, my work is varied, and also challenging at times, which makes it very rewarding. The most interesting project currently in progress is related to implementing a new recruitment tool and adjusting the recruitment process accordingly. I'm looking forward to seeing the new tool being used in practice!

Inspiring atmosphere

I'm greatly enjoying my work. The atmosphere is inspiring, and the job description is varied. My colleagues are amazing, and working with them is fascinating and eventful. Each day is different, which I enjoy.

In my work, I seek to support employees in every possible way through successful HR projects. It is also important that I am able to further develop my professional skills. I hope I will be able to participate in operational development in the future as well.

In my free time, I love seeing my friends, and I also enjoy hiking. I have already visited the Alps and am planning to travel to Iceland and Koli in Finland next. I also enjoy ballet performances and music – a nice contrast with my hectic job.
